Our partners Laboratorij za telekomunikacije Fakultete za elektrotehniko in two projects of the interregional cooperation program Interreg Europe have developed a concept of the "smart village" or how villages can apply ICT for their sustainable development.
"We propose a new, community-oriented approach to development, emphasizing that sustainable living cannot be achieved through technological solutions alone. Instead, we propose that the process starts, is adapted and driven by people and their needs, to ensure social sustainability, adequacy and effectiveness of new solutions in the long term. In this light, the article analyzes three dimensions of smart living - energy, mobility, waste - through the prism of the links between the city and the village and the role of ICT."
The article is useful for planning the development of smart villages in Europe.
